Ultrasonography with Doppler Imaging

Abdominal Ultrasonography includes: Ultrasound visualization of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, and spleen. It also includes Doppler imaging to determine blood flow parameters in the hepatic vessels, specifically the portal vein.

Patient Preparation and Procedure:

  • The examination should be performed on an empty stomach or at least 7–8 hours after the last meal.

  • This restriction does not apply to water or medication.

  • The procedure lasts approximately 30 minutes and is completely non-invasive and painless.

Advanced Technology: Ultrasound studies in our clinic are conducted using state-of-the-art Philips equipment (Affiniti 70G, EPIQ 7). These systems are equipped with high-resolution PureWave low and high-frequency transducers, ensuring superior image clarity and diagnostic quality.

What can be detected with Abdominal Ultrasound?

  • Size and Volume: Determination of organ enlargement or reduction.

  • Echogenicity: Evaluation of echo-conductivity (mostly associated with fatty-related pathologies).

  • Texture: Detection of granularity (primarily in cases of chronic diseases).

  • Masses: Detection of focal lesions and tumors.

  • Calculi: Diagnosis of stones in the gallbladder and biliary tract.

  • Free Fluid: Detection of ascites (fluid in the abdominal cavity).

  • Portal Vein Doppler: Assessment of blood flow direction and velocity, evaluation of vessel patency, and detection of thrombotic structures.

Monitoring and Documentation: Due to its safety and speed, ultrasound is an excellent tool for monitoring changes (dynamics) over time. Our clinic archives all documentation in both written and digital formats, including copies of reports and echograms (ultrasound images). This allows us to accurately compare data over long intervals.
