Laboratory Supplies
- 1 sterile urine container
Before sample collection, the urine container must be labeled with
- Patient’s full name
- Date of birth
- Date and time of urine collection
Urine Collection Instructions
- Before collecting the urine sample, the patient must perform hygienic cleaning of external genitalia using running warm water without soap.
- Just before collection, open the sterile urine container.
- Collect the midstream urine directly into the container.
- Close the container tightly after collection.
- The urinalysis should be performed within 1 hour of urine collection.
- If delivery to the laboratory is not possible within 1 hour, store the sample in the refrigerator at 4–8°C — it can be stored for up to 2 hours.
Note: For spontaneous urine collection, ensure that at least 3 hours have passed since the last urination.
