Laboratory Supplies: Infant urine collector
Urine Collection Instructions:
- Before collecting the urine, the baby should be washed with warm water without soap and dried.
- Open the polyethylene package by breaking the seal along the indicated U-shaped cut and remove the collector.
- Remove the white adhesive paper from the collector and attach it to the baby in such a way that the urine funnel aligns with the middle of the cut opening.
- For boys: the funnel should be placed within the cut opening.
- For girls: the funnel should be attached to the external genital lips in a way that the funnel opening is aligned with the center of the cut.
- The triangle at the bottom of the collector should face down.
- Finally, attach the diaper over the collector.
- The collector should not be left attached for more than 1 hour.
- The urine should be delivered to the laboratory within 1 hour of collection, with the collector closed tightly. The minimum urine volume required for analysis is 10 ml.
