Laboratory Supplies:
- 1 special brown-topped container for stool collection
- 2 yellow-topped transport containers
- 1 transport freezer
The following information must be indicated on the fecal container:
- Patient’s first and last name
- Date of birth
- Date of sample collection
Fecal Collection Procedure (Frozen Material):
- Upon arrival at home, immediately store the transport freezer (without the yellow containers) in the freezer in a horizontal position.
- Collect stool from 6 different areas using the special collection spoon that comes with the brown-topped container.
- Place the collected material into 2 yellow-topped transport containers (4-6 spoonfuls of stool in each).
- Immediately after collecting the material, tightly seal the yellow-topped containers, place them on a polyethylene plate, and store them in the freezer.
- Before taking the material to the laboratory, place the 2 frozen stool containers into the pre-frozen transport freezer and bring them to the laboratory.
