Regarding the Next Stage of Fetal Development

Being 35 weeks pregnant means you are in your 8th month, with only about 1 month left until delivery. The fetus is approximately 47 cm long and weighs between 2.2 and 2.4 kg. This week, your little one’s shoulders and legs are growing more, and their skin is becoming pink and smooth—they are getting ready to meet you!

By the 35th week, the circulatory and musculoskeletal systems are fully formed, and the fine hair (lanugo) covering the body is gradually disappearing. Your baby’s lungs continue to develop and produce surfactant. This is a substance that helps the baby’s lungs function properly and inhale air after leaving the womb.

The kidneys are now fully developed, and the liver is capable of processing certain waste products. Most of the major physical development is now complete. The baby will dedicate the next few weeks primarily to gaining weight.
