Regarding the Next Stage of Fetal Development

The 25th week of pregnancy marks the beginning of the 7th month. At this time, the uterus is approximately the size of a soccer ball, while the shape of the abdomen is unique to each individual and can vary significantly.

Some pregnant women have a belly that protrudes forward, while others find it spreads more to the sides; both are considered perfectly normal.

At this stage, your little one is roughly the size of a melon, weighing between 650–800 grams and measuring about 33–34 cm in length. The baby continues to grow daily, adding fatty tissue and hair. The once-wrinkled skin is becoming smoother, and the fetus is starting to look more like a newborn.

The lungs are preparing for breathing as the production of surfactant begins. The lungs aren’t the only part of the respiratory system getting ready; the nose also starts to function. Of course, there is no air in the uterus, so the fetus “breathes” amniotic fluid to practice for life outside.

At this stage, the fetus can sense different smells, reacts to your voice, and might even jump suddenly in the womb if startled by a loud noise.
