Tamar Phirtskhalaishvili

Pediatrician

Tamar Pirtskhalaishvili joined Mrcheveli in 2012 as an assistant pediatrician, and since 2020, she has been practicing as a pediatrician, providing comprehensive care for children. Her extensive clinical practice is enriched by advanced medical training and fellowships across the Netherlands, Austria, and France.

Early in her medical career, a guiding principle shared by an American colleague became the foundation of her approach: “You should treat the patient, not the disease”. Rather than focusing solely on isolated symptoms, she prioritizes the overall health and well-being of each child.

Her work is grounded in evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care. Dr. Pirtskhalaishvili believes that successful treatment relies on two critical factors: communicating with children in an age-appropriate manner so they feel safe and comfortable during examinations, and providing parents with clear, evidence-based guidance.

Areas of Clinical Expertise:
  • Urinary and gastrointestinal dysfunction (enuresis, daytime incontinence)
  • Constipation
  • Spina Bifida and neurogenic bladder
International Training & Fellowships:
  • Department of Pediatric Urology, Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (The Netherlands)
  • Department of Pediatric Pulmonology and Immunology, University Hospital Graz (Austria)
  • ERA-EDTA Fellowship Program, Agence de la biomédecine, Paris (France)
