Elene Gotsiridze

Radiologist

Elene Gotsiridze joined “Mrcheveli” in 2012. She specializes in pediatric radiology, as well as adult general and specialty ultrasound. Her practice integrates clinical care, academic research, and medical education.

Dr. Gotsiridze’s clinical expertise encompasses pediatric ultrasound, screening for neonatal developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), and the diagnosis of pediatric gastrointestinal pathologies (including pyloric stenosis and gastroesophageal reflux) and congenital urogenital anomalies. Her adult imaging practice includes ultrasound evaluation of the thyroid and cervical region, breasts, soft tissue masses, the hepatobiliary system, the urogenital tract, and female reproductive organs.

She completed advanced training in pediatric radiology at Cologne University Hospital and Graz University Hospital. At Cologne, she contributed to a clinical research group investigating congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT). In 2021, she completed a fellowship at Graz University Hospital under an Open Medical Institute (OMI) grant, awarded for her “Best Clinical Case” presentation.

Dr. Gotsiridze enhanced her ultrasound expertise at the training center affiliated with the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute at Thomas Jefferson University, followed by a general radiology fellowship at the Corinthian Diagnostic Radiology Center. She also completed specialized international training in neonatal hip ultrasound under the direct supervision of the method’s pioneer, Professor Reinhard Graf.

Dr. Gotsiridze is a guest lecturer in the Department of Radiology at Tbilisi State Medical University and a trainer in postgraduate continuing medical education. A PhD candidate since 2023, her doctoral research focuses on image-guided percutaneous transhepatic recanalization of malignant portal vein thrombosis using endoportal radiofrequency ablation and stent implantation.

In 2025, she was elected to the Education and Professional Standards Committee of the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) for a two-year term. She is the founder and president of the Georgian Ultrasound Association. Dr. Gotsiridze frequently participates in international congresses, including the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the EUROSON Congress, as an invited speaker and faculty member, serving on the ECR faculty for the 2025–2026 cycle.

Her international professional memberships include the European Society of Pediatric Radiology, the International Society of Radiology, the European Society for Pediatric Nephrology, the European Association for the Study of the Liver, and the European Renal Association.
